Strand of Hair Tutorial
Some people have asked me "What's the purpose of making a strand of hair"? Well, aside from the fact that the tutorial itself will introduce you to the Liquify feature in Photoshop, it's also useful if you are creating comics or cartoon characters. Just replicate this tutorial for each strand of hair and you're good to go.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Open up a new document in Photoshop.
2. Create a new layer on top of the Background layer. Call this layer "Hair".
3. Use the Rectangular Marquee tool to create a square shaped selection. Select the paint bucket and fill this selection in with a hair color. In this case, I used brown.
4. Click anywhere on the canvas to de-activate the selection.
5. Goto Filter > Liquify.
6. Use the brush to push and pull the square, manipulating it until it makes your hair strand shape.
7. When you have your hair strand shape, click OK to close Liquify.
8. Now right click the "Hair" layer, then select "Blending Options.
9. Goto the "Bevel and Emboss" section, make sure the section has a check in the checkbox so that it is active.
10. Adjust the Depth, Size, and Soften sliders so that the hair looks more 3D.
11. Click OK and you're done!
