Outline Inner Shading Text Effect
What I like espeically about this text tutorial is that it's a great effect to use on text when creating logos. In this photoshop tutorial, we'll walk you through the process of converting standard text so that it has an outline as well as an inner shading effect.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
1. Open a new document in Photoshop. Preferablly, the canvas should be 300x300 pixels in order to provide you with a sufficient amount of of room to work with.
2. Select the Type tool and create a new type layer by typing the lower case letter "a".
3. Goto Layer > Rasterize > Type.
4. Right click the "Type Layer". Choose "Blending Options" from the pop-up list. Select "Stroke" and change the settings to the following:
5. Click OK to accept changes.
6. Now select the "Magic Wand" tool.
7. With the type layer active, use the magic wand tool and click on the letter "a".
8. Goto Select > Modify > Contract. Enter "3px" for the amount to contract the selection. Click OK to accept changes.
9. Select the Paint Bucket tool. Fill in the selection with a lighter shade of the color you used for the text.
10. With the selection still in place. Goto Filter > Blur > Gaussian Blur. Set the Radius to 5px. Click OK to accpet changes.
11. Click CTRL+D to remove the selection. You should now have your outlined inner shading text effect.
12. As a extra bonus touch. Right click the "Type" layer and choose "Blending Options from the pop-up list.
13. Select "Drop Shadow" from the pop-up list and apply a shadow to the text.
